Microsoft will take to the stage in the Big Apple at 3pm UK time (that’s 10am ET) today where it’s promised to reveal a batch of “new and innovative things”.
It’s rumoured the Redmond-based firm will update a number of its existing Surface hardware – and could throw in a number of brand new products, too.
Without further ado, here’s Express.co.uk’s guide to every new Surface device we expect to be announced today and the latest leaks and rumours surrounding each.
Surface Pro 7
The Surface Pro 7 appears to have leaked in full ahead of its debut, courtesy of top tipster Evan Blass. Aesthetically, the device looks extremely similar to its predecessor, that means the device itself is a large tablet with a kickstand on its rear. Just like previous Surface Pro, the hardware was exhibited with an attached keyboard.
Most notably, Blass’ alleged images show the Surface with USB-C connectivity, something that isn’t present on the Surface Pro 6.
Internally, we’re expecting Microsoft’s new hybrid to sport some souped-up specs, including Intel’s latest 10th generation processors.
As a quick reminder, Microsoft usually offers its Surface Pros in multiple configurations that vary in processor speed, RAM, and storage. And we don’t expect that to change with the Surface Pro 7.

Surface Laptop 3
Microsoft launched its Surface Laptop range back in 2017 and it’s been one of the best Windows 10 machines for fans who prefer a more traditional form factor.
Evan Blass has once again been on hand to tease Microsoft fans with images purporting to show the hardware’s new look in Surface Laptop 3.
The photos exhibited by Blass suggest Microsoft could be planning to ditch the hardware’s signature alcantara fabric finish. A black version of the hardware was shown which appeared to be made entirely of metal.
Of course, it’s possible the suede-like material could return on some models of the hardware.
Most interestingly, Blass showed off a 13-inch and new 15-inch model of the Surface Laptop 3. This suggests the product series could finally be made available in more than just a single size.
Internally, it’s been tipped some Surface Laptop 3 flavours will be powered by AMD processors. Either way, we’re expecting the internals offered to be faster and more efficient than that of its predecessor.

It’s rumoured Microsoft will break away from Intel by unwrapping a new ARM-powered Surface today. Images of such a device have once again appeared thanks to Evan Blass.
The ARM-based Surface was exhibited looking very similar to Microsoft’s Surface Pro 6. The device was shown flaunting minimal bezels around its display and with a signature kickstand on its rear.
Moreover, the product was also shown with a keyboard attachment, another staple of Surface hardware.
Internally, it’s rumoured this Surface will be powered by Qualcomm’s 8cx chipset, although it’s unclear how this will cope under the heavy load of Windows 10.
As noted by The Verge, a number of other ARM-based Windows computers have not been able to keep up with rivals toting traditional processors in terms of performance and app compatibility.

Supposedly codenamed Centaurus, The Verge has claimed this particular device has been in development for over two years.
A dual-screen Surface could function as both a tablet and a laptop depending on its form factor, potentially allowing Microsoft fans to use the hardware as a productive powerhouse during the day and kick up their feet with it and binge on a Netflix show when they get home.
While no images of this product have so far leaked, tipster Evan Blass has claimed it will run a new operating system called Windows 10X. While little is known about this software, it’s expected to be optimised for dual-screen devices.
It will presumably look and feel a lot like Windows 10 does now.
What about a Surface Book 3 or Surface Go 2?
In a nutshell, updates to Microsoft’s Surface Book and Surface Go lines have not been rumoured, so fans hoping for new iterations of either could find themselves disappointed today.
With that said, the Surface Go in particular is definitely due an upgrade. The hardware launched over a year ago and has not been updated since.
Of course, it’s possible Microsoft could surprise everyone in the room by revealing a Surface Book 3 and Surface Go 2…just don’t get your hopes up.

It wouldn’t be a Microsoft event without mention of Windows 10. It’s possible the tech firm will formally unveil the next substantial upgrade for its PC platform, codenamed 19H2.
While this update has been rumoured to be quite iterative, it will bring some nifty improvements. Some PCs will see an increase in battery life when running 19H2, for instance.
